Samantha was raised in a tiny hamlet in Devon called Farway. Ask Samantha when she started painting and she can't tell you. She has always been drawing, painting or creating art in any way she can - it is almost bursting out of her. She has an inherent creative gift that allows her to depict life around her in her own unique way. Although for most of her life she has painted purely for joy, she has taken on many varied commissions as well as running an art therapy workshop for adults with learning difficulties. She further developed her interest in capturing life by studying film making as a mature student. Frame by frame she loves to share the way she sees the world. Those of us who know Samantha have finally persuaded her to present her art and allow people to enjoy it; we believe we have done the right thing.
Samantha is currently working on a collection of vibrant seascapes capturing the pure energy of nature from her home near Sidmouth on the Jurassic coast line. She uses the sand from the beach to create texture. She also uses the sea water to mix her paint, bringing the energy of the sea into the painting.
Her inherent gift has been traced back through her late mother's blood line to a certified art master and photographer, William Nathan Statham, of Matlock.
